What is subirrigation?
Subirrigation is a precise, sustainable method of watering plants, where water is delivered from underneath the grow pot upwards through a wick. This method ensures that the plants receive the right amount of water without the risk of overwatering, creating an optimal growing environment.
The process not only promotes healthy plant growth but also helps conserve water. This efficient system encourages healthier root development by allowing the plant to take up water as needed, making it an ideal solution.
Subirrigation is available on Ambius containers, bespoke and client owned solutions. Whether you're looking for a stylish, low-maintenance solution for an office, or a more tailored plant hire for a commercial space, our subirrigation system ensures that your plants thrive.
How it works?

The water is poured into the bottom of the sealed container. The wick at the bottom of the grow pot, sits in the water and allows the plant to take up the water as needed by osmosis.

Osmosis is the movement of water from an area of high concentration which is how the plant roots draw water to soil.

The wick acts as a prosthetic root with access to a reservoir that is able to take water up on it’s own terms.
